"MAN IN THE CAGE"

This piece is a cloth doll torso atop a metal birdcage. The face is sculpted of paper-clay. The costume is made from velvet, chiffon, embroidered cotton, "crinkle satin", and brocade; accented with many embroidered ribbons & trims. A military emblem of metallic gold purl was used for the center bodice motif. She holds a fan of embroidered chiffon glued to a base made from toothpicks. Inside the cage sits a little man on a swing, made of cotton and painted with acrylics. The whole piece stands 26 in. tall.
